Hello Everyone! It’s Enza here and today I will be focusing on the fun geometric set from the new release called Simple Shapes XL.
I have to admit, I'm more of a free-flow type of scrapper and rarely go for geometric shapes, but I really enjoyed the challenge and came up with three projects that use the stamp set in different ways. As you will see, I kind of adapted the shapes to my own style.
For the my first layout, I decided to use the oval shape to create flowers.
I stamped multiple flowers on a 12×12 piece of white card stock using a variety of Crisp Inks. My initial idea was to use it as a full background, but it was a little bit too much for me, so I decided to cut two big corners out of it. To create more interest and texture, I “sliced” the corners in strips and adhered them on a yellow patterned paper from the Reflection Scrapbook Collection.
I did a little bit of mixed media on the card stock I used as my base, trying to bring in as many coordinating colors as I could.
The butterfly cut file picking out of the photo lets the colors shine through. I love the white on white effect! I finished the layout with embellishments from the Reflection Scrapbook Collection, such as wood veneers, stickers and chipboard stickers. I also stamped sentiments around the photo and in the middle section of the page. The word “lovely” is included in the Sketchy Floral stamp set, while “Love” comes from the Best Mom stamp set.
For my second layout, I chose to use the heart shape as the main element.
I stamped lots of hearts in shades of blue, coral, and yellow. The polka dot patterned paper worked perfectly as a template to space the hearts, which were fussy cut and stitched down onto the paper.
This color-block look has become one of my favorites lately. I think it's fun and easy, especially when it comes to find the perfect match to the colors in your photos. I used the Script Word Die set to cut the word “love” multiple times. To obtain the same color of the hearts, I just dabbed the Crisp Ink pads onto white card stock before sending it through my die cutting machine. I kept the embellishments around the photo pretty simple. Just a ranunculus in coral tones that I stamped with the Build-A-Flower: Ranunculus stamp set, and some darling little flowers from the Build-A-Flower: Coral Charm stamp set that were painted to match the yellow on the left-hand side.
To finish the layout, I just added sentiments included in the Extra Special stamp set.
For my third and final project today, I used the circle shape to make balloons.
With a little bit of masking I was able to create a bunch of balloons in soft, pretty colors to decorate one side of my traveler's notebook spread. The word “favorite” from the Super Script Scrapbook stamp set fit perfectly on the page.
For the opposite side, I cut some patterned paper from the Reflection Collection and used it as my background. A few layers behind the photo, a sentiment from the Baby Balloon stamp set, and some butterflies from the Painted Butterflies set finished the spread.
I hope you have enjoyed these projects and got inspired to create with the Simple Shapes XL stamp set.
Thank you for stopping by!
