April Guest Designer: Zinia Amoiridou

by Flora Monika Farkas

Hi, ladies! Welcome to our April Guest Designer post! It is always so exciting to introduce fresh and new artists to you here on the Altenew Scrapbook Blog.

We have the talented Zinia Amoiridou as our Guest Designer and she will be sharing a lovely 12×12 scrapbook layout with you. So here are what she has for us today:

Get to know Zinia!

Hello, everyone! My name is Zinia and I’m a designer, illustrator and paper addict from Greece. I’ve always been a creative kid. My favorite time of the year was the back-to-school season where I could grab a bunch of new colorful pens and stationery. I’m madly in love with all sorts of paper crafting and art supplies and I love collecting them as much as I like using them. My favorite things are ice cream, taking pictures, art journaling, designing craft supplies, teaching classes and spreading sprinkles of craftiness and inspiration with the rest of the world.

Zinia's Layout

It’s Zinia here and I’m extremely honored to be back on the Altenew Scrapbook blog to share with you another layout I created using the beautiful Our Family Scrapbook Collection.

The inspiration from this page came from one of the patterned papers. To start, I fussy cut a bunch of floral and leaf images from that paper and wanted to create a floral drape coming down the top of the page.

After I fussy cut my elements, I decided to take it a step further and stamp some additional images using one of my favorite stamp sets, Watercolor Wonders. I really adore this stamp set and it also matched perfectly with my fussy-cut bits. A bunch of different ink colors was used here, ranging from reds to purples to blues to greens. Also, I wanted to recreate a similar artsy look by using blue and purple shading on my stamped images.

For the stamped images that didn’t have layering options, I did some partial inking to create my shadows and honestly, I ended up loving that messy shading look.

There are coordinating dies to cut out the images from the Watercolor Wonders set but the designs are extremely simple and easy to fussy cut so you can go either way. Personally, I love the cut lines you get with a die-cutting machine but sometimes I’m just too lazy to bring it out.

Once the stamped images are cut into embellishments it’s time to assemble the page. When I started arranging my floral images at the top of the page, I realized I cut out way too many designs. Of course, I could just save them for a different project but I really felt like using them all at that moment.

So I decided to create a floral frame that goes around the whole page. I randomly arranged all the elements trying to spread the colors and different types of leaves evenly.

In the center of my layout, I placed my photo and started working on the rest of the elements. For my title, I used a word from the Super Script Scrapbook Stamp Set and I stamped it using the same partial inking technique I did earlier. I also stamped a tiny phrase from the Label Love Stamp Set to bring in some red near my photo.

To embellish my photo a little bit further, I used the Our Family Frame Die to cut out a blue frame and I finished off the page by sprinkling enamel dots in various shapes and colors across the whole page.

Thanks for stopping by here today!

We are so amazed by Zinia's layouts! What a great idea to mix the floral paper from Our Family Scrapbook Collection with one of Altenew’s flower stamp sets. It’s a perfect match and the result is stunning!

Thank you so much Zinia for being our April Guest Designer and for sharing your pretty page with us! We were definitely inspired today!
