Welcome to the October 2018 Stamp and Die Release Blog Hop and Giveaway. If you have come from Lisa Fonseca‘s blog, then you are right on track. If not, you can start the hop over on the Altenew Card Blog.
This month's release was such fun as there were some holiday-related products as well as non-holiday products. I really love having an array of products to work with. I'm not an overly HOLIDAY type of person, but I love Christmas and my December Document Album. I skipped last year but this year I'm yearning to make one again. I want it to be simple and easy to use so I picked out a tiny album to use. It has a lovely minty cover (my favorite color) and I just added a little something to make it special.
For the cover, I created a wreath with the Peaceful Wreath Stamp and Die set. I tried to pick colors to match the album and chose soft turquoise and soft pinks. The Sweet Dreams and Red Cosmos mini ink cubes fit the bill perfectly.
For the title, I used a sentiment from the Brilliant Baubles Stamp Set, which I stamped in with some Permanent Black Ink. The pages inside will be a mix of cardstock and page protectors to which I will add some stamped embellishments. I plan to make these in advance so that in December all I have to do is print photos and add journaling. I have already created some inner pages. You can see them on my personal blog.
You can see how I created the cover embellishments in the video below or watch it in HD on YouTube.
My next project is light years away from anything holiday-themed. It is a summery layout with a picture of my youngest son when he was 8 months old. The photo dates back to 2010. I love using older photos as it enables me to jump back in time and enjoy those memories. I used the Potted Plants Stamp Set to create a “ledge” of plants.
I kept the design simple and used blue and greens for the foliage and also grabbed some matching washi tape for detail and extra color. The Altenew Watercolor Brush Markers came in handy too. I added some leaves to certain pots where I could no longer use a leaf stamp and added some color to the pots.
The Pastel Strokes Washi Tape adds a dollop of color and ties everything together. I think this layout is one of my new favorites.

am so looking forward to start using stamps and/or die cuts to decorate on scrapbook layouts. I used to think that I had to buy stickers and embellishments to use on layouts. Not any more.
