Get to know Patricia!

Hello everyone! I'm Patricia Roebuck and I live in Louisiana with my husband, 10-year-old daughter, and two cats. I started scrapbooking in 2007 when we were in the process of adopting our daughter from China. I love the creative process as well as the documenting process. Sometimes I enjoy getting messy with paints or mixed media and other times I crave a nice clean design. My current favorite way to document is using a Traveler's Notebook or in small pockets, but I really love to stamp and create cards as well. I have always been a fan of Altenew’s style and have missed being a part of their first Scrapbooking team. I left designing for teams to create exclusively for a direct sales company for two years, but am so excited to be back and involved in the creative community again. I'm extremely honored and grateful to be guesting here at Altenew.

I created some of my favorite documenting sizes for you using the same products on each one. So I hope this shows you more than one way to use Altenew’s products in your scrapbooking or any paper crafting projects.

Traveler's Notebook

For my first project, I created a Traveler’s Notebook insert. To color the flower design from the Charmed Stamp Set, I wanted to use the Artist Markers in a unique way. The first way was to have a light hand while coloring horizontally in one color and then vertically in another color on both the flowers and the leaves. The second way was to use the Sketched Lines Stencil and the markers, also creating horizontal and vertical lines.

I used the Sunkissed Crisp Dye Ink to sponge on color and texture to my background using the stencil. The Reflection Collection 6×6 Paper Pad is a perfect size for your TN. Here, I created strips for layering to creation motion horizontally and vertically.

The Charmed Stamp Set has so many great sentiments for scrapbooking, I used them and some of the other images to stamp onto my background and to create a sentiment. I used foam adhesive to raise my photo and the flower on the left and then added the enamel dots to create more texture and dimension.

Pocket Page Cards

My second favorite way to document is using pockets. Here, I am using a 6×8 size protector with 3×4 and 4×6 sizes.

Just like in the TN, the Reflection Collection 6×6 Paper size is ideal for this smaller format of scrapbooking. I used the same products for my TN to create my customized cards for my Pocket Page spread but focused on the colors from my photos.

For my title card with CHA, after stenciling onto the Reflection Collection 6×6 paper, I used Altenew's Bold Alphabet Die Set. The flower stamp was a great way to add more texture to the patterned paper and to create dimension.

The Charmed Stamp Set is perfect for stamping directly onto your photos that have white space. You can also add stamping to cardstock and then staple or adhere it to your photo’s white space.

Creating your own cards for your pocket scrapbooking is the same as creating any project. You can create them to fit your style or the theme of your photos.

6×8 Layout

I still love to create layouts. 6×8 and 8.5×11 layouts are my favorites! With this 6×8 layout, I used the Artist Markers in another fun way, directly onto my background to create a paint stroke look!

Chances are after stamping and coloring with your stamps, you have leftovers like me. Before you clean up, make another project with them instead of saving them for later. And because the stamping and coloring had already been done, this was a super fast layout to put together.

Besides punching squares from the paper from Reflection Collection, all I had to do was decide where to place my photo, flowers, and additional stamping. This layout has very little white space in contrast with my Traveler's Notebook spread but using the same products.

In all of my projects, I was inspired by the products first and then used them in different ways on each one.

Altenew's design teams are always so inspiring, so I’m so grateful to be guesting here. I hope you are inspired to use their Artist Markers in a unique way on your next project – stamping on your photos, using it for a smaller TN, or Pocket Page scrapbooking formats. Please share your creations – I would love to see them!
