Get to know Kelly!

Hi everyone! My name is Kelly Janes. I live in Northeastern Indiana with my husband, Andy, and our son, Aidan. I've been scrapbooking for over a decade and it continues to be something I greatly enjoy! My true passion is 12×12 scrapbook layouts of my everyday life. I love to add a lot of texture, dimension, and color to my projects. I'm so honored and grateful for this opportunity to be returning as an Altenew Guest Designer this month!

Let's check out Kelly's layout!

I was sent the gorgeous Fabulous Floral Frames Creativity Kit and it is full of so many amazing products including the Floral Frame Stamp & Die Set, the 36 Pan Watercolor Set, Permanent Black Crisp Dye Ink, Gold Fenstone Decorative Elements and an inspiration guide. Because it is December, I thought it would be fun to try to create a Christmas themed layout with the fun floral stamp set included in the kit.

Let's get started!

I started by stamping the leaves from the Floral Frame Stamp Set using the Permanent Black Ink on watercolor paper. This ink is amazing! It dried very quickly and had absolutely no bleeding when I used the watercolors! Then, I used the green watercolors from the 36 Pan Watercolor Set to color the leaves. I knew I wanted to make some type of wreath so I stamped numerous leaves and I used the coordinating die to cut them all out.
Once all the leaves were stamped, colored, and cut I started positioning them on the white cardstock background. I wanted to add a bit more color to the background (I've been LOVING patterned paper backgrounds lately), so I grabbed one of the tiny dot trio stamps included with the Floral Frame Stamp Set. Next, I took the red watercolor from the 36 pan set and added it to a piece of scrap packaging. Then, I used the watercolor as ink and stamped all over the white cardstock to create a fun abstract pattern.
Next, I repositioned all of the leaves back onto the background in a wreath shape. Then I added two of the Gold Fenstone Decorative Elements to the center of the leaves and added a red bow using a ribbon from my stash.
I added my photo to the top of the leaves of the wreath and used the word “Merry” from the Holiday Script Word Dies for my title. I cut it numerous times on red cardstock and layered the words together to create a more dimensional title.
The final touch was adding the journaling under the photo telling the story of this Christmas morning at my childhood home!
Biggest thank you to Altenew for asking me to guest design this month! It was such a pleasure to get to work with these amazing products!
