Hi friends! Nathalie here to share an idea on combining Mixed Media and Texture in a Scrapbook Layout. I love color and texture in pages; they add interest and a visual pop on a page.
How fun is that background? A bit of mixed media magic created with Altenew's Watercolor Brush Marker Refills – Desert Night and Dusk. The background comes together with a few drops of the pigment and a splash of water on watercolor paper. The dampness of the paper allows the pigment to flow on the page thus creating the perfect background. A few drops of shimmer watercolor – Metallic Watercolor Pan Set – just adds interest to the background.
The next step when combining Mixed Media and Texture in a layout is dimension. So, what better way than to create 3D flowers for the layout. I built the flowers using the Virginia Rose 3D Die Set and Floral Fantasy 3D Die Set. The new gradient cardstock sets – Sea Shore, Green Meadow and Summer Afternoon – make it so easy to build the flowers. Just to emphasize the dimension, I created a metallic white paper (a bit of metallic watercolor on white cardstock) to cut the leaves from.
The cluster of dimensional flowers on top of the watercolor background creates a focal point on the page. A bit of foam adhesive helps to add movement on the page as it creates a bit of separation between the images.
Framing the page with a paper of the same tones as the background helps to emphasize the dimension of the flowers. A simple title – Live Your Dream Collection die-cuts – and a few drops of Antique Gold Metallic Ink Spray added the finishing touches to the page. You can see how the page come together in the following video. You can also watch the video on Altenew's YouTube channel.
I hope this inspires you to pull your Altenew goodies to create a layout that combines a bit of mixed media and texture. I cannot wait to see what you create!
