Hello, Altenew friends! Welcome to our March 2020 Guest Designer post.
This month's guest designer is the incredibly talented Audrey Yeager! If you have been scrapbooking for quite some time now, then you must have come across her beautiful layouts. Her scrapbook layouts are always fun, vibrant, colorful, and simply eye-catching! Just a quick glance at her Instagram feed will surely make your day. Feel free to check out her Flickr Gallery, YouTube channel, and, of course, her Instagram page.
Get to know Audrey!
My name is Audrey Yeager and I live in Syracuse, NY, with my husband and two kiddos, Charlotte (10) and Kyler (8). I work full time as a high school Biology and Genetics teacher, and during my “me time”, I love to scrapbook, quilt, watch movies, hike, and run outdoors.
I have been scrapping for over 15 years, and it is amazing how both the industry and my personal style has changed. Currently, I love to use cut files, mixed media and stitching on my pages. You can find most of my work in my gallery HERE, my Instagram HERE, or my YouTube Channel HERE. Also, I run series of videos on my YouTube channel at different times during the year including a “Summer Scrapping” series which focuses on summer-themed pages, a ‘Tis the Season series which focuses on winter holidays and snowy layouts, and other week-long series too. I am so honored to be guest designing for Altenew this month!
Let's check out her project!
I love to mix geometric patterns with softer shapes like floral (and that's the reason I chose the “Hello Sweet Garden Creativity Kit” to work with). I love to scrap everyday moments and quirky things my kids do, and I often try to use the subject of my photo to help guide my page design.
How to elevate your scrapbook page with floral 3D dies!
First, I picked out shades of cardstock to create my layered flowers with the Garden Picks 3D Die Set. I chose colors that matched the main colors in my photo. Next, I made a few sets of flowers and leaves and then cut a large “Hello” with the Mega Hello Die out of navy cardstock.
On my background, I used the Moroccan Mosaic Stamp Set and stamped with embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder to create a resist.
Then I went over the background with some mists. After that dried, I used the smaller stamps in the set to stamp some of the details in similar shades of blue.
Finally, I layered my matted photo, flowers, title, and some of the wood bits from the Sweet Hearts Adhesive Wood Veneers.
It was amazing creating a page with almost NO patterned paper and using a big chunk of my colored cardstock to make these beautiful and intricate flowers!
