How-to Video! How to Customize Notebook Covers With Washi Tape

Nathalie here to show you how to customize notebook covers with washi tape.  Altenew has a large selection of washi tapes.  These are so versatile that they can help you create all types of paper crafting projects.  The different designs and widths of washi tape are perfect for cards as well as DIY projects.  The possibilities with Altenew's products are infinite! Let me show you how I customized my notebook covers in three designs:

WRAP COVER

The Wild Flora Washi Tape‘s width is perfect to create a wrap style cover for your notebook.  To form the cover, I cut a piece of white cardstock to fit the length and width plus one inch of the entire notebook.  The extra inch allowance on the width will form the wrap on the existent cover.

The extra width of the washi tape will help keep the folded edges attached to the original cover.  However, to even further customize the notebook cover, I added a small sentiment to the cover of the notebook. This time I used the Rounded Rectangles die to cut the label. Then, I stamped a sentiment from the Incredible Stamp Set with Obsidian Pigment Ink, and a few leaves from the Wildflower Doodles Stamp Set with inks from the Rock Collection Mini Ink Cube Set.

DETAILED FRONT COVER

Another way to customize notebook covers with washi tape is to add a decorative edge to the front cover.  This time, I am using the Vibrant Spray Die-Cut Tape to create the decorative cover.  The detailed edges of the washi tape are perfect to bring a bold statement to the notebook.

I simply added cut the excess tape from the edge of the cover, then personalized it by adding a small label. The Nesting Frames Die set creates the right size label; while the Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder makes the sentiment from the Simply the Best Stamp Set stand out.  I just love the softness of the tape on the kraft paper cover.

DIY COVER

My last idea for customizing notebook covers with washi tapes is a complete DIY look for it. Once I cut the cover from cardstock, I used washi tapes from the Rose Petal Washi Tape Set, Sea Shore Washi Tape Set, and Sweet Dreams Washi Tape Set to create the diagonal stripes on the cover.

Here is a look at the back cover of the notebook; the colorful washi tape stripes are perfect!

I left a small blank space between the washi tape stripes. This is the perfect spot to further customize the cover using the Watercolor Roses Stamp Set.  You can see how these covers came together in the following video, you can also watch it in HD on the Altenew YouTube channel:
