Customize your Traveler’s Notebook Cover with Mixed Media Inks (+video tutorial)

Hi there! Today, I want to show you how you can customize your Traveler's Notebook Cover with Mixed Media inks.   These new inks are short of amazing! They are of superior quality, versatile, crisp and perfect to use on most porous surfaces.   But, their best feature is that they turn permanent once they are heated.   Can you imagine the possibilities!  A permanent ink that you can manipulate, and an arsenal of Altenew stamps and stencils!

Now, let me show you my new customized Traveler's Notebook:

First a Background:

And to think this cover started as a blank canvas!  The new Mixed Media inks are the perfect medium to bring life to a plain fabric cover.   It all starts with creating a mask for the floral applications (Beauty Within Die Set), then using the ink blending tool to apply a light ink application to the entire canvas – Frayed Leaf Mixed Media Ink-.

Then comes adding interest to the background – think art journaling-. First a bit of stenciling with the Floral Mandala Stencil and Forest Glades Mixed Media Ink, next a few stamped details  -Beauty Within Stamp set, Paint-a-Flower: Calla Lilly, Evergreen Mixed Media Ink-; to then end with a few more small stenciled details – Teeny Hearts Stencil and Frosty Pink Mixed Media ink-.

Now, before starting to detail the mask areas, it is time to set the background in place.  I simply use a cloth to cover my canvas Traveler's Notebook and iron the surface ( I set my iron on high, no vapor).  The inks loose a bit of their shine and become a bit opaque as they set permanently on the fabric with the heat.

Creating Focal points:

The Beauty Within Simple Coloring Stencil makes creating the flowers a breeze, thus the colors in the flowers!  The Red Cosmos Mixed Media Ink set brings pops of color to the cover; while the Beauty Within Stamp set provide the detail for each blossom.

Finishing Touches:

The Watercolor Roses Stamp set and Jet Black Mixed Media Ink provide the perfect sentiment for the cover, thus making it a one-of-a-kind.   Just a bit of heat, and ready to go!  You can see how the Mixed Media Inks magically transform the blank canvas to a colorful cover in the following video; watch here or in the Altenew YouTube Channel in HD:
