Today I am sharing a framed welcome card piece that I plan to hang up or place in my home. My intention was to make it super grungy and very textured, but my plan changed.
I used the Thin Frame 3D Die Set which was very easy to assemble. I was pleasantly surprised at how sturdy it was once I had put it all together.
For the background of the card, I used Flowers & Leaves Embossing Folder which I finished off using the ink blending tools and the Seashore Dye Ink Set. I added some pops of color using Fresh Lemon Dye Ink.
I had originally made a super inky and embossed frame using the Mixed Media inks, but I felt that it did not suit the soft colors of the dry embossed background, so I assembled another piece and left it plain!
For more detailed instructions with voice-over, watch how I made the art journal page in the video below! Feel free to watch it on Altenew’s YouTube Channel HERE:
What I loved the most was that the size of the dry embossed piece was the same as the larger of the die pieces from the Thin Frame 3D Die Set. Die cut the word welcome three times and glue all the pieces together to form a dimensional piece.
Apply embossing ink directly on to the dried piece and sprinkle Antique Gold Embossing Powder to “spotlight” a few sections. Put away the excess and sprinkle Pure White Embossing Powder all over the piece to cover it.
Shake off the extra powder and then heat set until melted and shiny. This helps the embossing powder to give it a blended effect.
Finish off the piece by adding Satin White sequins and assembling the frame with clear drying glue.
