Today, I am sharing a fun abstract mixed media art journal page that I made using some of my favorite Altenew supplies! I also share an unusual way to use your Altenew Glue Pens, so keep reading below to find out more.
First, I started by placing some rough splashes of color using the Autumn Festival Watercolor Brush Markers: Ultraviolet and Yellow Ochre. I then added some large rough dots using Sea Forest Watercolor Brush Marker. Tip: Make sure to overlap some of the colors and leave negative space.
I let it dry completely and then added marks with a white gel pen and the Brush Pen from Fine Liner Pen Set. Then, I stamped one of the flowers from the Wild Flora Stamp Set and a sentiment using Obsidian Pigment Ink.
Next, I applied Embossing Paste through the On the Plus Side Stencil and let it dry completely! Now, here comes the fun part: I used the Glue Pen to add marks over some parts of my design and dusted Antique Gold Embossing Powder over wet glue and then heat set it!
The embossing powder was slightly more textured than normal because of the wet glue, but I really love this effect. You can use this technique to add heat embossed highlights to your stamped images or in areas where you need extra sparkle.
