Creating Dimensional Projects with 3D Embossing Folders (video tutorial)

by Nathalie

Hello crafty friend! Nathalie here to share a few ideas on creating dimensional project with 3D embossing folders.  The new Classic Imagery collection from Altenew features a wide variety of beautiful embossing folders.  These produce the most delicate and detailed impression on your projects.  The best part is the dimension they add to your projects with minimum work.

Let me show you a few ideas with these:

1- Title Page

I am an avid memory keeper, so my first idea was to use the new Spring Blossoms Floral 3D Embossing folder to create the cover of my April journal.    The lovely dimension on the embossed image is just perfect for  a simple title page.   The key to only achieve a partial impression in a larger size cardstock is to use a large format die cutting/embossing machine.

A bit of white pigment ink brings the soft details in the dimensional impression.  The only addition is my stamped title using Mega Brush Alpha Stamp set.   Love the subtle texture and lovely dimension in the page.

2.  Memory Keeping Layout ( journal size)

How about creating a dimensional project with 3D Embossing folders and memory keeping!

This time I am combining embossing folders in my journal to document a sweet moment between my boys.   I am using the  Dreamy Tiles 3D Embossing Folder to create the background for part of my layout.   To create the complete embossed look on the entire page, I simply turn the paper once the first impression was formed.   The small gap in the design helps me to place my embellishments.

For the second part of my layout, I am using the Cheerful Bloom 3D Embossing Folder to create a pocket for my journal.  Once white cardstock is embossed with the folder,  I carefully trim away the one corner of the panel ( non-embossed area)  thus creating the triangular design.   A bit of Azurite ink helps to bring the details in the design.   I glued the  partial panel only at the edge of the non-embossed edge  -this creates the pocket- .   Then, it is all about adding your journal in a large tag.   A few sentiments (Shades of Friendship Stamp set, and Simply The Best stamp set) complete my layout.

3.  Dimensional Tags with a twist

My last idea is all about creating dimensional tags (this can be used for other projects, or on their own).  Since I am preparing them for future use, I mixed a few of new embossing folders ( Areca Palm 3D Embossing Folder, Daisy Bed Embossing Folder, Bunch of Balloons 3D Embossing folder)

These are simple but with extra impact thanks to the small details in the Wax seals and dimensional die cuts.  You can see how this come together in the following video.  You can watch it here, or in HD at Altenew's YouTube Channel:
