Hello crafty friends!
Nathalie here to share a new idea on creating monochromatic memory keeping layout. This is going to be a great chance to mix and match Altenew products. With so many gorgeous and versatile products arriving each week, it is easy to combine them in one project. One of the best ways is to create a project focused on a single color or color palette. The color automatically becomes the anchor of the page.
Choosing a color
The key to creating a monochromatic memory keeping layout is to identify the color that will anchor and link the page together. In this case, I am using the pink mylar balloon in the photos as the key component on my page.
The background paper (Enjoy the Ride collection) picks the color of the balloons, and the strips of washi tape ( Cherry Blossom Slim Washi Tape set, Red Sunset Slim Washi Tape Set) help to cement a cohesive color palette by showing a few shades of the same tone.
Bring neutral embellishments
In order to make the pictures the focal point of the page, all the embellishments have to remain in a neutral color tone. The best choice is black and white for this monochromatic memory keeping layout ( it picks the color of the clothing, and the notebook pattern).
My choice is to create delicate and detailed flowers. The new Gardenia Duo Stamp and Die Bundle is a perfect complement to the linear look of the background. A clear black outline brings the color of the clothing; it helps to add movement on the page -by the location of the clusters-.
Add a pop of shine.
Adding a pop of glimmer/shine is a great way to break the monotony of a single color layout. By adding a texture to the color palette, we are fooling the eye to see a larger spectrum of the same color palette.
I am bringing that needed shine by adding a bit of glitter on the titles of the page. The new Pink Brilliance Glitter Cardstock set brings the colors of the page together in the die cut words ( All About You Word Die Set, Bold Numerals Die Set). In addition, I am encasing the journaling in the pocket ( less white surface visible). However, I am continuing the monochromatic feel of the layout by adding accents of pink in the die cut words ( Just A Number Die set) and enamel dots.
You can see how this page comes together in the following video. Watch it here, or in Altenew You Tube Channel in HDARVE Error: need id and provider
I hope this inspires you to mix and match Altenew goodies in your next project. Try creating a monochromatic memory keeping layout, all you need is a color to start.
