by Lilith Eeckels

Hello, Altenew fans. Today, I will be sharing a new layout and video with you showcasing the Mega Ampersand Die. I will show you how to create your custom stencil to make a fun background!

For this layout I used the following supplies:

How to Create a Custom Stencil With a Die:

  1. Cut out the Ampersand and keep the little leftover die piece. I used a card-sized piece of cardstock.
  2. Place the cardstock from which the ampersand was cut as well as the middle section piece onto some white 8.5×11-inch cardstock and blend the three shades of ink over the shape. To keep the little piece from the middle of the ampersand from moving, I used some tape runner, which can easily be pulled off, to keep it from moving.
  3. Add as many ampersands as you like.
  4. Cut out two extra shapes. I used the cover paper from a 6×6 paper pack (Gel Printing: Soft Washes).
  5. Stamp the YOU ARE using the same shades as those used for the blending. Cut the two words out with the coordinating dies.
  6. Place your photo.
  7. Add the cutout ampersands and adhere with foam tape.
  8. Pop on the title and stamp two extra sentiments.

This fun technique can easily be used for a card or mixed media project. You can use a variety of dies for this technique. Leaf shapes, hearts, or butterflies would look wonderful.
