Hello crafty friends! Nathalie here to share one new idea for combining texture and color in memory keeping using the new Craft Your Life Project Kit: Never Stop Dreaming. The new project kit is beautiful and versatile. The detail in the design is delicate and classic; plus all the elements of the kit are easy to mix and match in all sorts of projects. I am taking advantage of the entire kit to show you how easily you can combine texture and color in memory keeping layouts.
I am using the Craft Your Life Project Kit: Never Stop Dreaming to create a new layout in my daily journal. All I needed was a bit of ink and some cardstock for the page. Let me walk you through it.
How to Combine Texture and Color in Memory Keeping Layouts
-
Texture
The embossing folder in this kit is beautiful, especially as it contains a label right in the center of it (perfect title/sentiment placement). So, I am using the folder to create my title/journal page from white cardstock. I wanted the crisp white texture as the background for the page. The stark contrast of the white cardstock with the colored images brings out the texture of the page.
I am taking advantage of the design of the folder to create two label spots. The center spot is perfect for my title. I simply cut a label from white cardstock (with the kit's die set) and stamped a sentiment from the stamp set for it. The smooth surface of the title label helps to emphasize the texture of the page. However, I stretched the design of the folder to fit my page, by partially embossing the folder a second time, at the bottom of the page, thus creating a perfect journaling spot.
2. Color
Now, let's talk about color! Firstly, I am using Obsidian Ink to stamp the outline of the Craft Your Life Project Kit: Never Stop Dreaming stamp set. This already provides contrast with the white background. Next, I am using a combination of pink/fuchsia inks and the kit stencil to add more contrast on the page.
Finally, the placement of the flowers (pops of color) is such that it guides your eye through every corner of the page. This allows for a balanced layout. You can see how this layout came together here or in this week's episode of Inspired by A Card with Nathalie on Altenew's YouTube channel.
I hope this inspires you to check the new Craft Your Life Project Kit: Never Stop Dreaming then use it to create a new project that combines texture and color!
