by Altenew

Hello there! Welcome to an amazing post! Today is an exciting day as we have our February Guest Designer, Ann Taylor sharing her DIY Projects with us today. Ann is an Altenew Certified Educator and even though she is an Educator, you will often see her as a participant in Virtual Cardmaking Classes creating cards and having a blast. Let's hear what Ann has to share about herself.

Get to know Ann

Hi! My name is Ann Taylor (not the clothier) I graduated from the Altenew Academy class in 2021. I’m so proud to be an Educator and able to showcase Altenew’s versatile products. I have been crafting since I was a young girl. I love taking different items and putting them together. I think that’s why I enjoy making multimedia projects. When I’m not working on projects, I’m making cards.

Ann's DIY Projects Galore

Today I’ll be sharing 3 DIY projects with you. First, let me explain a little bit about how this all came about. I was working on a project when I got notified about being a guest designer. I was so excited!

Then, while I was working on my first project for Altenew, happy mail arrived! Inside the box was this beautiful paper! An idea popped into my head and before I realized it, I had cut the paper into pieces. I had forgotten to take a picture before I started cutting. Argh! Anyway, I began working on my DIY project. I knew I wanted to create a container to hold my Altenew Detail blending brushes and then lightning struck my brain. I had some washi tape that would coordinate well with the beautiful paper that came in my box.

Here’s a picture of me working on the project.

I covered the container with Gradient Lines Washi Tape; I had backed the thin roughly cut flowers with Double-Sided Adhesive; then I fussy cut the flowers and added them to the washi tape-covered container.  Lastly, I added some gold gems.  Here’s the finished product.

I wanted to do more with the beautiful flowers, so I grabbed a plain clipboard.  I covered it with the Gradient Lines Washi Tape and then added more flowers.

I added some ribbons and finished it off with some Enamel Dots.

For my final DIY project, I finished my original project of covering a container for my Detail Blending Brushes!  I used my Altenew Artist Markers to color all the flowers on the Botanical Rhapsody Washi Tape taking it from shades of gray to shades of blue!

I sure enjoyed being a guest designer!

I really appreciated Ann’s ideas, I’m new at making cards, and really like the idea of labeling her brushes by color and having a pretty container to put them in. I would really enjoy seeing more of her cards and ideas! Thank you Ann!
