Hello friends! Nathalie here to share a fun idea on adding pops of color to memory keeping layouts featuring the new Floral Henna Stamp, Die, and Stencil Bundle.
This new set from Altenew is so detailed in design, yet so simple to color. The size of the florals is just so perfect for all sorts of paper crafting, including smaller memory keeping layouts, like today's project.
This layout feels airy, light, and simple, but also packs a punch of color that brings your eye throughout the page. Let's review what makes this page so well-balanced.
How to Add Pops of Color to Memory Keeping Layouts
-
Pick a color
Adding pops of color to memory keeping layouts is a great way to highlight the subject of your project.
In this case, I am using shades of pink -in the stamped flowers and title- to highlight the shades of pink that are also present in the photo. My choice to play with tones of pink in the Floral Henna images harmonizes the page. I am adding soft tones of green just as a complementary color.
-
Go for a neutral background
In order to make the photo (as well as the floral elements) the main attraction on this page, I am choosing to use a neutral background. In this case, the black and white stamped images on the background are an easy way to add pops of color to your memory keeping layouts through embellishments. However, you do not necessarily have to use black and white for the background, just make sure your background color does not compete with your photo or floral images.
-
Repeat elements
Another way of adding pops of color to memory keeping layouts is repetition.
In this case, I am using two parallel lines as the bases for my page design, thus balancing the design. The colored Floral Henna images repeat on both sides of the spread, while the title brings that metallic look of the mylar balloon in the photo.
In addition, I am using sentiments from the Bold Sentiments Stamp Set, and Ethereal Roses Stamp Set to create a second visual triangle in the spread. My choice to keep the sentiment strips neutral helps to make all the pink elements on the page pop a bit more.
You can watch this page come together here or in HD on Altenew YouTube Channel:
I hope this helps you to see how this page comes together easily with the Floral Henna Stamp, Die, and Stencil Bundle, and a few Crisp Dye Inks.
I cannot wait to see how you use these ideas to create your next project!
The concept of adding pops of color to memory keeping layouts can also be applied to all sorts of paper crafting projects. Just follow the three main design ideas to see how you can also make your projects eye-catching. Pick a color you want to emphasize, chose a neutral background, and repeat, repeat, repeat (3 is the magic number), these will surely create magic in your final design!
