Add a Pop of Metallic Shine to Memory Keeping Journals (with Video Tutorial)

by Nathalie

Hello, crafty friends!

Nathalie here to share how to add a pop of metallic shine to memory keeping journals featuring the new Brushed Metallic Cardstock from Altenew.

There is something special about adding a bit of sparkle to your projects. The new Metallic Brushed Cardstock Collection from Altenew is sure to bring that subtle elegance to your projects.

Today, I am using the new Gold Brushed Metallic Cardstock to create the cover page of my latest family journal.  Let's take a look at the project:

I am using more than one pop of metallic shine in this layout, but love how they all work together to create a cohesive page.   Let's take a closer look!

Focal Point

One of the best ways to add a pop of metallic shine to memory keeping journals is to create a visible focal point from a “shiny” surface.

I am using the outline die from the Polka Dot Leaves Die Set to create one large leaf from Brushed Gold Metallic Cardstock. I am placing this leaf across the embossed panel (Starburst 3D Embossing Folder) so that it becomes a predominant feature on my page.

Title work

Another way to add a pop of metallic shine to memory keeping journals is to use the metallic surface to create your title.

In this case, I am using the Linear Pathway Alpha Solid Die Set and Gradient Cardstock in Seashore to create the base of the title. The colored alpha base die cuts are accented by the Linear Pathway Alpha-Outline Die Set cut from Brushed Gold Metallic Cardstock.

The color combination makes the letters pop, especially since they sit on a Stitched Scalloped Circle die-cut.

Simple edging

I am choosing to add one last pop of metallic shine to my project using the Creative Edges: Notebook die and the Brushed Gold Metallic Cardstock.

I love how the edge sits right at the end of the title cover panel and frames the page completely. I am sharing my process in a new video. You can watch the page come together here, or in HD on Altenew's YouTube Channel.
