Hello friends! Prepare to be blown away because today we have the wonderful and insanely talented Joy D'Souza as our September Guest Designer! Joy is not new to Altenew; her wonderful creations have been winning your hearts for some time now. Today, she will show you how to create a gorgeous wreath with Altenew dies. But first, let's hear it from Joy.

Get to know Joy

Hey there, my crafty friends. I am Joylita D’Souza, an avid card maker. Though I love making cards, I occasionally make DIY home decor and enjoy making various unique projects. I have been a big fan of Altenew products since I first came across them in my card-making journey. You can check out my work on my blog and Instagram.

I am so honored to be invited as a guest designer for the Altenew Mixed Media Blog. For my project, I made an autumn wreath using a few of Altenew’s fabulous die sets.

First, I die-cut the flowers and leaves from white cardstock using the dies from the Craft-A-Flower: Cape Marguerite Layering Die Set. I also die-cut the leaves from the Branches and Berries, Decorative Swirls, Whimsical Garden Layering, Parlor Palm, and Create-A-Wreath Die Sets.

Next, I inked the die-cut pieces using the mini ink blending brushes and the below Crisp Dye Inks:
Flowers – Citrus Burst, Orange Cream, Jet Black, Heart Beat
Flower centers – Citrus Burst, Mocha, Espresso, Jet Black
Leaves 1 – Citrus Burst, Just Green, Hunter Green, Jet Black
Leaves 2 – Olive, Moss, Evergreen
Leaves 3 – Just Green, Orange Cream, Evergreen
Leaves 4 – Parrot, Olive, Moss
Leaves 5 – Citrus Burst, Just Green, Evergreen
Branch – Sand Dunes, Mocha, Espresso, Jet Black, Evergreen

Then I added details to the centers of the flowers using my black and white gel pens. After that, I used my embossing tool to shape the flowers. Lastly, I assembled the pieces and stuck them on an embroidery hoop.
