Hello everyone! We invited the very talented Joy D'Souza to be our guest designer for November, and she is sharing a beautiful galaxy bookmark with us today.
Joy has been a guest here several times before, and every time she has wowed us with her creations; this time is no exception. But first, let's hear it from Joy.
Get to know Joy
Hey there, my crafty friends. I am Joylita D’Souza, an avid card maker and an Altenew Certified Educator, and I also enjoy making DIY home decor and other mixed media projects. I have been a big fan of Altenew products since I first came across them in my card-making journey. All their products are so unique and versatile, and I can’t have enough of them. I am sure you all agree with me. You can check most of my work on my blog and Instagram. So, it’s an honor for me to guest design for the Altenew Mixed Media Blog. For this project, I decided to make a winter-themed galaxy bookmark.
Joy's Winter-Themed Galaxy Bookmark
I placed the Tall Tale Bookmark Die Set on a piece of 110lb cardstock and ran it through the die-cutting machine. Next, I stamped the image from the Winter Wishes Stamp Set using Permanent Black Crisp Dye Ink. Then, I stamped the topmost image on masking paper, fussy cut it, and stuck it on the panel. I also die cut the moon from masking paper using the To the Moon Die Set.
After that, I inked the sky using Turquoise, Pink Diamond, Wisteria, Ultraviolet, Rubellite, Ultramarine, Sapphire, and Jet Black Crisp Dye Inks along with Ink Blending Brushes (small) and Mini Blending Brushes.
Then, I splattered white gouache on the background using a round brush.
Once the panel was dry, I unmasked it and colored the images using these Artist Alcohol Markers:
House – Fresh Lemon, Citrus Burst, Limestone, Silver Stone, Industrial Diamond, Pure Graphite
Trees – Bamboo, Firefly, Grass Field, Mountain Pine, Shadow Creek
Snow – Arctic, Wisteria, Colorless Blender
Moon – Citrus Burst, Colourless Blender
As the last step, I outlined the images using Fine Liner Pens – 01 and 02.
Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope my winter-themed galaxy bookmark project inspires you, and I can’t wait to see your lovely creations. Have a beautiful day.
You knocked it out of the park again, Joy, with this beautiful galaxy bookmark! This is completely out-of-the-world amazing! Super brilliant! We are totally blown away! Thanks so much for sharing your incredible talent with us and making our day! We hope you will guest design for us really soon.
